How to Change Your Nevada Registered Agent
The process of changing your Nevada Registered Agent truly is quite simple. The Nevada Secretary of State has
created a "pre-made" form which will need to be filled out, signed by both a representative associated with the entity and
also your new Nevada Registered Agent. Once signed, it will need to be filed with the Secretary of State.
The form that needs to be filed is titled "Statement of Change of Registered Agent by Represented Entity." A copy
of the form can be downloaded from our web site by
Clicking Here or you
can also download it directly from the Nevada Secretary of State's web site (
www.nvsos.gov).
Important Note: Before you begin filling out the form, if you are planning on changing Registered
Agents to Nevada Business Services, we will fill out the form and also file it for you. All you will need to do
is sign! Just give us a call and we will get to work right away.
Once the completed Statement of Change of Registered Agent form has been filed with the Nevada Secretary of State
it will go into processing. Processing times vary depending on the time of year and the work load at the
Nevada Secretary of State's office. Typically, it will take anywhere between 5 to 10 business days for the State
to apply the changes. Keep a close eye on your entity during this time to make sure the changes are in fact made and
made correctly (it is not common, but occasionally documents are lost or incorrectly recorded at the State).
If there are any problems after processing is complete, notify the Secretary of State's office immediately!
TIME SAVER! At Nevada Business Services, we track the filing for you! If any problems arise with the
filing, we notify the Secretary of State and have it taken care of for you!
Once processing is complete and you (or Nevada Business Services) has verified that the changes are correct, you
are all set to go.

Costs Associated With Changing Your Nevada Registered Agent
When changing your Nevada Registered Agent there will be a few fees involved. Fortunately these fees are quite
reasonable and, as mentioned in the previous section, if you are working with Nevada Business Services we discount
our first year Registered Agent fee to help you keep them low.
The list below gives you an outline of what you are looking at cost wise. Please note: The State Fees quoted are
the actual fees charged by the Nevada Secretary of State. Some companies mark these up when the provide pricing
information, we do not.
- Nevada Secretary of State:
- Statement of Change of Registered Agent by Represented Entity - $60.00
- Nevada Business Services
- First Year Registered Agent Fee (Discounted) - $40.00
As you can see, in order to change your Nevada Registered Agent, the fees will come to a total of $100.00. These do not include
any additional documents that may need to be filed for your entity. Examples of additional documents that may
need to be filed are: Annual Lists, State Business Licenses, and Amendments, to name a few.
Additional Details Which May Affect Cost
There are a few situations that are occasionally encountered when needing to change your Nevada Registered Agent.
These situations will increase the State fees outlined above (The Registered Agent fee from Nevada Business
Services stays the same).
Fortunately, we know what these situations are and how much they will increase the fees by. Details regarding
these situations are provided below:
Expediting the Statement of Change of Registered Agent Form
Occasionally, it is necessary to change your Nevada Registered Agent and you simply cannot wait for the Secretary
of State to process the document under ordinary lead times (approximately 5 - 10 business days). If you find yourself
in this position, you can utilize the Nevada Secretary of State's "24 Hour Expediting" service. This will increase
the State fees quoted above by $25.00, but it will ensure that the change of Registered Agent is processed within
24 hours of the document being filed.
Registered Agent Resignation
If your previous Nevada Registered Agent has "Resigned" you have 30 days to find a new one and file the
Change of Registered Agent form with the Nevada Secretary of State. If you do not have a new Registered
Agent appointed within 30 days, your entity will go into "Default" status. Once your entity is in Default,
you will have to pay a $75.00 late filing fee in addition to the $60.00 quoted above.
